On June 1, 2007 Tyler Hack assumed the role of Coordinator of Athletics and Recreation on the Mansfield Campus. No stranger to regional campus Athletics, Tyler served The Ohio State University Newark for nearly four years in roles as the Intramural Coordinator, Sports Information Director, and Head Baseball Coach.
As a student-athlete, Hack was a standout on the baseball field and in the classroom. He was a three time All-conference honoree as a pitcher at Ohio State Newark. He also garnered Academic All-conference honors for four years. A natural leader on the field, Hack finished his collegiate career with a record of 19-9 and helped his team to one regular season Ohio Regional Campus Conference Championship.
Following two successful years as the Sports Information Director, Hack was tabbed by the Director of Student Affairs to resurrect the college's intramural and recreational sports program. With Hack at the head of the program, the intramural program took off, seeing an average of 300 students per year participating in the various offerings.
Following the 2006 baseball season, a season in which Hack served as an assistant coach, Tyler was named as the Head Baseball Coach at Ohio State Newark. During the 2007 season, Hack lead the Titans to a 25-12 record, finishing 2nd in the Ohio Regional Campus Conference, and then going undefeated through the conference tournament to bring Newark its first conference tournament title since 1998.
Upon his arrival on the Mansfield Campus, Hack immediately saw an interest in intercollegiate baseball and put into the works the plans to bring the sport to campus. The spring of 2008 will usher in the first pitch of baseball for the Mansfield Mavericks with Coach Hack at the helm.
Coach Hack has coached youth baseball for eight years and is currently a coach in the Columbus Big Katz organization. In his first two years with the club, Hack lead the Katz to a combined record of 61-31. His 2007 16U team finished the season ranked 3rd in the state of Ohio and 13th nationally.
Tyler holds a Bachelor of Arts from The Ohio State University and is currently completing a Master of Science in Sports Management through the University of Southern Mississippi. He is a member of the American Baseball Coaches Association, the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics, the National Intramural-Recreational Sports Association, and the Ohio Recreational Sports Association.
